A Quick Guide to TruDenta® Technology
If you suffer from temporomandibular joint dysfunction, you are probably well-versed in the symptoms. Sufferers commonly feel pain or tenderness in the jaw, ear and face. They may also feel as if their jaw locks into one position and may have difficulty chewing or speaking. Some people are turning to TruDenta® dentistry as a way of treating the symptoms of TMJ.
TruDenta® for TMJ
TruDenta® treats the cause of TMJ pain instead of just relieving the symptoms. For most people, the relief is long-lasting. The methods do not use any drugs or needles, making it a desirable choice for people who are afraid of needles or who are allergic to or prefer not to take medication.
How TruDenta® Works
Before patients begin receiving treatment using TruDenta® technologies, a dentist will evaluate the pain and discuss health history. From there, he or she will use the information gathered to create a personalized treatment plan. The treatment works by retraining the muscles and nerves that make up the affected area to function properly. Each treatment lasts about one hour and uses several safe technologies. Treatments are once per week and can last as many as 12 weeks.
TruDenta® Technologies
TruDenta® uses ultrasound, trigger point manipulation and cold laser technologies to treat TMJ. Ultrasound technology increases heat and blood flow, which improves circulation to strained facial muscles. Trigger point manipulation gently stimulates muscles to reduce tension and relieve pain. Finally, cold laser technology reduces chronic inflammation and decreases pain as it heals the muscle and joint tissues and improves the jaw’s range of movement.
Safety of TruDenta®
Every procedure performed using TruDenta® technology is safe. Ultrasounds, trigger point manipulation and cold lasers are all approved by the Federal Drug Administration.
