Oral Health Surprises: Hazards in Your Diet
To lower your risk of several food hazards that can often damage your smile, have a prevention plan in place to eliminate unhealthy habits, fix a poor diet, and eradicate any unhealthy choices that you make. Oftentimes, damage to your teeth and gums is done by your diet. For this reason, you should put an extra emphasis on the products you are consuming in relation to how they’re treating your teeth and gums.
Are you aware of risk factors in your life that can damage your teeth due to aspects of your diet? If you are routinely trying to open a product with your teeth, you run the risk of dental damage. Even a single oral accident or injury involved with trying to open a bottle cap can set your mouth back for several years and require extensive restorations and repairs. Rather than trying to open bottles or packaging with your teeth, always use bottle openers, scissors or some other form of tool to do the job for you.
Avoid snacking throughout the day. By continuing to snack throughout the day, you are constantly putting your smile at risk of dental damage associated with extensive tooth decay and a lowered saliva production. Furthermore, avoid products in your diet that can cause dental erosion, including sugars and starches. Hard products or products that are extremely hard to bite into should be avoided as well as they can cause dental damage in the form of chipped or cracked teeth. With an effective diet and an effective tooth hazard prevention plan in place, you can keep your smile safe, so it can continue to thrive for many years to come.
